I didn't pursue this field nor do I deny the fact that this field is challenging. However if you start sincerely with this book, it will build strong foundations for principles of Magnetism and Electricity, especially if you are an Electrical Engineering grad student, and if you start liking it you might enjoy doing derivations and a lot more.
